The important question numerous people have whenever they go to collage, what job is right for me? I had the very same question starting, and midway through the first year. Given that I had a decent skill with computers I thought the logical choice was to go into computer science. Making and repairing computers is one thing, programming them is quite another. I held up a whole two and a half months in the course before I needed to shift programs otherwise I would have had a GPAa lot less than my blood alcohol content. I had a rough idea on what I wanted to perform for a career after university, but I had an even better idea on what I didn't want to do. I didn't know what kind of program to go into though, and I didn't realize what kinds of jobs there were after receiving a certain diploma or diploma. I was fortunate enough to be living in residence where there were a lot of resources to my disposal. Furthermore there were lots of of students going through the same thing I was and have made complex choices before. I talked to my Resident Advisor about the trouble I was having and she recommended that I take a career workshop.
A career workshop is a course in which you determine what job field is best for you. These people ask you a ton of questions based on personality, your weaknesses and strengths, plus your likes and dislikes. At the end they tally up your scores and it places you into diverse groups that gives you a better picture of what to do in your future. When I took it I scored 92% in the entrepreneur category. The course instructors even had a list full of example jobs in each field, and after going through the entrepreneur category I realized I liked all of those job options. So the moment I pointed out that entrepreneurship or business was right for me, only a couple of faculties stood out so I transferred into a business degree and I couldn't be more happy.
With out this workshop I wouldn't have been in a position to find out which path was right for me, at least it would have taken me a lot longer. It made me see my abilities and failings and it taught me to be discover what I was interested in. I always had an idea what it was, but I never could put any words to it. After looking online there doesn't appear to be any beneficial courses that gave me results as effective as the ones I acquired from the in person course. At colleges and universities, the course is usually free (paid for by your student union) so I highly recommend everybody to take it if they are unsure about their future. If it isn't free it isn't a lot of money either, and the couple of hours there will save you time and money.
I'm certainly much more content now that I have discovered my career path and I am no longer unsure on what I would like to do. I no longer have all the stress and I feel much better about the path that i'm taking.
By taking this career workshop i was able to find out what job is right for me. Since I found out What job is right for me I can now concentrate on the education that I need to apply for the job and focus on my new-found career path!
